Women’s March: Year One

Once again, we will come together in the streets of Northampton to celebrate our wins, mourn our losses and strengthen our resolve to continue to resist together. Despite all our critics, we have not gone away or become complacent – we are stronger than ever before and our energy has not waned. Come join us as we take to the streets.

We will be posting the march route, speaker list and co-sponsors shortly.

Safe Communities Act

Intersectionality

THIS EVENT IS CO-HOSTED BY:
Badass Activists in the Pioneer Valley
Florence Resist
Pathways to Justice
Rise Up Western Mass Indivisible

Members of the Pioneer Valley Resistance are heading to Beacon Hill for the Safe Communities Act Hearing on June 9th. We plan to fill the hearing chambers along with halls and steps of the State House with people who believe that immigrants and refugees make our communities a better place – and that Muslim bans and hate-filled rhetoric have no place in our cities and towns!

Come to Boston to:
1) attend the hearing, and provide testimony if you wish
2) participate in a rally on the steps of the State House in support of the Safe Communities Act
3) lobby your senator and representative to support this bill (we will provide information on how to do this!)

You can sign up to car pool at https://www.groupcarpool.com/t/d9p7vi

Die-In #dying4care

IndivisibleNOHO-Die-in-019This Die-In in Pulaski Park (Northampton, MA) is planned as part of a National Die-In for Healthcare (https://facebook.com/dying4care/).

On June 4th, join in a nationwide Die-In for Healthcare. In cities and towns across the country, citizens will come together to dramatize the real potential impact of Republican health care policy. Trumpcare would cause tens of millions to lose insurance, slash Medicaid coverage, increase premiums for seniors and the sick, gut protections for those with pre-existing conditions, jeopardize health care jobs, and enrich health insurance companies and the wealthy. Across the nation, people will symbolically “die,” holding tombstones that forecast real causes of death under this devastating Republican approach to healthcare. Join your neighbors to oppose Trumpcare and demand affordable healthcare for all! Look for an event near you at www.facebook.com/dyingforcare/.

Burying Inequality: Preparations for the Day Without Women

On March 8, the Day Without Women, we will be installing an Inequality Graveyard downtown Northampton. Is there an issue you’d like to see die: the pay gap? misogyny? racism? assaults on LGTBQ rights? immigration raids? climate change? pipelines? The list is long….
Come create a tombstone with us so we have visual markers around town on the Day Without Women to remind everyone exactly why we resist.
Join us!

Please no tombstones for humans… there are more than enough issues to keep us busy.

*Come to the door at the SIDE entrance, nearest the parking area, where you will see a purple and white sign that says “Commons Coworking.” Many, many thanks to our hosts for the space to be creative!

Day Without Women

LADY LIBERTY IS SEEING RED!

We will meet at the Pioneer Valley Workers Center at 20 Hampton Ave #200 (across from the radio station, near the large parking lot behind La Fiorentina) at noon to march down Pleasant Steet and up Main Street to Pulaski Park. We march to honor the Day Without Women and especially in solidarity with our undocumented sisters, brothers, and siblings who have been the focus of the new administration’s reign of tyranny, cloaked in the fake robes of “law and order.”

Lady Liberty will lead us in a speak out at the end of March where we will ask you all to raises your voice against the scare tactics and hatred that the administration is using to drive us apart.

We ask partcipants to wear red if they can (whether a lot or a little). We will have #resist signs or bring your favorite. This is, as always, a peaceful gathering.
